Was perusing the interwebs, and noticed this job ad on Porsche north america’s website:

Kinja'd!!!

https://jobs.porsche.com/index.php?ac=j…

So those of you that are impatient the job details are as follows:

Consult and support customers regarding customization and individualization of the complete Porsche model line both in person and remotely

Respond to and coordinate customer inquiries regarding specified product range and options outside the regular order catalogue

Process customers’ orders and track the vehicle progress in cooperation with PAG

Support dealers regarding customization of the complete Porsche model line and push dealers towards their Exclusive sales potential

Organize and execute training sessions and events with dealers

Plan, execute and analyze events in the respective region

Maintain budget compliance and contribute to the overall reporting and sales analysis

Develop and support sales push initiatives for the respective region

Support interdisciplinary projects

It seems like a job where you help people build custom Porsches all day.

Its in Georgia too, you get to travel 40%, and probably drive a shit ton of 911s. Very yes. If only I had that masters degree right now.

Looks like I gotta pick up German.

They earn every bit of their money helping people, though.

I can imagine the clients are probably going to have to be pretty wealthy to afford a custom car. I would be interested to see the split between hardworking people and trust fund idiots. Besides, we would share a common interest anyway: stupid fast cars.

One of the reasons I would work at a Tesla store. Just get to show people around cool stuff they like as much as you do all day.

What I’m imagining this job to be is probably pretty far off the reality.

Probably alot of work with the factory, getting specifications, designs, and meeting with dealers, but still sounds way better than any other job I can think of.

You don’t really need to be wealthy to afford a custom Porsche, you just need to be able to afford a Porsche. I have custom ordered all of mine because I would never be able to find the color combinations I like with the equipment I want. The majority of people who buy them will probably be more interested in custom ordering than those who choose to lease. I have used the same design manager every single time and, as a result, we have cultivated a good relationship. He has a lot of interesting stories to share. The majority of people who are assholes to him are the ones that can just barely afford the car. Also, not everyone with a trust fund is an idiot, and plenty of us have jobs that could fund our lifestyles.

Calm your tits, I’m not trying to insult anyone. Also why I said good hardworking people. I read more about the job and I figured it was more for high end clientel, someone like jerry seinfeld or some other obscenely wealthy enthusiast. It is nice that it is a service that they extend to anyone, the listing made it sound like it was only for people who wanted something that wasn’t listed in the options.

It isn’t exactly a service that they extend to everyone in this form. Every dealership is supposed to have someone that completely understands every single option and can help you configure your car. They operate off of a configurator just like the 3D we have but their’s adjusts for build date and gives a little more information. Personal Design Managers are placed in major markets to assist customers that might take delivery overseas or those who want to take delivery in Atlanta at the Porsche Experience Center. If you order a car in a market without a PDM and you want to take advantage of one of these delivery options, you are referred to a PDM if the dealership isn’t capable of coordinating everything. It is usually easier for a PDM to do because they work directly for Porsche whereas someone who works for a dealership may not be able to access everything they need to for an efficient timeline. Design Managers also will “build” different options for their clients if the clients are a little confused or overwhelmed. They can also get the ball rolling on something more bespoke such as getting a 991.1 wheel on a 991.2 car for the right money. For instance, the Sport Techno wheel is the most elegant factory 991 wheel across the board, in my opinion. Porsche will still make this wheel and put it on a new 991.2 for you. You just need to be willing to pay and wait.
